Tree Disease and Insect Management in East Bay

TREES DON'T THRIVE WITHOUT CARE.
Landscape trees are a significant investment and need routine care.
Tree care
involves watering, fertilizing, mulching, trimming, pruning, spraying, treatment, and necessary removal. Care and tree insect management help prevent disease, infestation, and premature death. However, addressing these problems without professional service can be challenging, especially if you oversee a large landscaped area.
AILMENTS CAN BE CHALLENGING TO IDENTIFY AND TREAT.
What is causing spots to form on the leaves of a formerly healthy tree? Why is the bark starting to peel away? Diagnosing a health problem in a diseased or infested tree is difficult for most people, let alone treating it. The key to successful tree treatment is to know what you are dealing with. Many tree problems are caused by plant pathogens, insects, or decay, which can be challenging to diagnose correctly.
WE ALL LOVE TREES AND ARE WORRIED WHEN THEY NEED HELP.
TREE TREATMENT BY SPECIALISTS
The best way to protect your trees is to identify the root of the problem and take the appropriate action. A tree disease specialist can assess the signs of infestation and disease by
fungi (i.e.
Shot Hole Fungus,
Black Sooty Mold Fungus,
Fire Blight)
or bacteria. Our
ISA certified arborists
are trained in understanding what trees need for their health—things like treating the soil with fungicide, pruning branches, or removing the entire tree.

What does a diseased tree look like?
Healthy, blooming trees can suddenly show signs of ailing due to infection by pathogens, such as bacteria or fungi, invasion by pests, or lack of nutrients. Glaring signs of leaf disease include discolored, blistered, blemished, mildewed, burnt, spotted, and rusted leaves. An infected bark may have black knots, rusts, cankers, wilts, decays, deep cracks, or holes. Poor growth, branch dieback, wilted leaves, early leaf drop, or thinning of the canopy are root rot symptoms.
How do you treat a diseased tree?
Early disease identification and treatment can save trees. It can prevent emergencies such as property damage caused by the falling of giant trees such as oaks, elms, maples, and cedars. Fungicides or insecticides can be applied or injected into the soil, leaves, stems, or trunk to eliminate various diseases. An arborist may recommend the whole tree be logged if the trunk is severely infected. Other tree treatments include pruning or trimming, improving soil conditions, and introducing biological organisms to kill tree pests such as bark beetles.
Can a diseased tree be saved?
Many diseases and insect invasions can be treated to avoid tree failure and removal. Treatment and chance of survival will depend on the disease type, section of the tree affected, the extent of damage, and risk of spreading. Infected branches can be easily trimmed off to preserve the tree. Root diseases are the most likely types of tree disease that cause growth loss, mortality, and falling. Trees moderately affected by root diseases can sometimes be saved earlier by pruning out the compromised roots.
